The Exercise Specialist participates in planning and implementation programs for the Cardiopulmonary patients of exercise and education.  Performs/leads exercise program incorporating warm up, stretching and exercises, aerobic activities and cool down periods.

This position notes and documents patient responses, responding appropriately to patient’s complaints and symptoms

Implements treatment and rehabilitation programs under the supervision of a physician.

Cleans and maintains exercise equipment, performing daily checks on equipment, communicates problems with equipment to appropriate authority.

Position is responsible for the planning and scheduling of cardiac rehab sessions for patients in coordination with nursing staff and under the supervision of Rehab department director

Responsible for pickup, delivery of and communications concerning patient charts between Cardiac Rehab staff and Medical Director, keeping Rehab department director informed

Maintains appropriate stocking and ordering of necessary department supplies

Job Requirements

Requires: Baccalaureate degree in Exercise Physiology or related science or current NM physical therapy assistant licensure

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) current upon hire.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within six (6) months from hire

Minimum two (2) year’s experience in a health related medical environment preferred

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
