Radiation Oncology Therapist, PRN

Job Description

Position Summary:  This position supports the mission of Rose Medical Center of optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person.  Under the supervision of a Radiation Oncologist, with the direction of a supervisor, performs and delivers a physician-prescribed radiation therapy treatment on patients, calculates proper machine settings, assists the physicians with patient care, assists with the preparation and process of special procedures such as IMRT sonarray, anesthesia cases, some simulations, field modification devices, and brachytherapy.  In addition, the therapist provides patient care information and evaluation of patient’s physical and psychological status.  The therapist must know and utilize radiation safety techniques, as well as assist in and employing student training.  The therapist supports the organizations mission, goals, values and ethics.  When need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Requirements

Licensure/Certification/Registration:  
American Registry of Radialogic Technologists with advanced certification  required.  Current CPR.
 
Education:  
Graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiation Therapy Technology, certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or eligible for certification.
 
Experience:  
1-3 years preferred.
 
Special Qualifications:  
Skills commensurate with the formal training received.  Must be able to operate all equipment.  Must maintain discretion toward client and professional confidentiality.  Must maintain constructive interpersonal relationships.
 
Degree of supervision required:  
Involves general guidance and direction by the Director of Radiation Oncology.  Employee will be expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
